Breaking radio silence for a fic rec: "Sins of the Fathers" by blamebrampton -- OMG!
I know I'm not supposed to be here, but I had a spare half hour this morning, went looking for something to read, and you're not going to believe what I found!
Remember the fact fest? And I did Scorpius? Well, blamebrampton wrote fic based on my facts. Not just one. Tons of them! Maybe even, dare I hope, all of them? The author promises Part 2 is coming, and I'm going to be on the edge of my seat until it's posted.
I have so much love for this fic. It's written in my favorite style: sparse enough to make you think, but crafted so expertly you're constantly catching your breath. There's tight, witty dialog that alternately rings with humor (of the driest sort - my favorite) and deep emotion. The author carries us along at a brisk pace, but the snapshots we're given are full and satisfying.
I love this Harry and Draco. They've grown into the adults I've always pictured them to be. I don't want to give away what's happening, but if you read Scorpius's facts, you'd know there's more going on between these two than meets the eye. Much more. blamebrampton gives us a delicious taste of feelings long, long denied.
As for the kids, blamebrampton breathes life into the new generation. These characters are beautifully fleshed out -- especially Albus and Scorpius, but also Rose and James. And Narcissa? Pure magic!
As much as I'm enjoying all the subtext flying around between our boys (both sets), it's Scorpius' relationship with the castle that the author has brought to life in stunning detail. I think I could read a million words of fic with this premise. blamebrampton took a two sentence idea and created something truly amazing. I love it. We're given a taste of history we've never seen before. Fascinating!
This is 7,800 words of pure pleasure. I'm begging you all to head over and take a gander at this fic. Leave the author much, much love. You're not going to be disappointed. That, I promise. I'm officially a blamebrampton fangirl.
